Cameron Maybin

From Gaslamp Ball Wiki - A Wiki for San Diego Padres Fans

Cameron Maybin is an outfielder for the San Diego Padres. He was acquired by San Diego from the Florida Marlins in exchange for Ryan Webb and Edward Mujica.

Maybin was acquired as an athletic centerfielder who would develop into a gold glove CF, a potent bat in the lineup and a pest on the basepaths. After his first season with the Padres in 2011, he looked like he was on the way to become just that. Before the 2012 season he signed a 5 year extension guaranteeing him $25 million.[1] His 2012 season paled in comparison to 2011 and his 2013 campaign was derailed by injuries. 2014 had its ups and downs as well. He battled through another injury, but came out swinging with excellent glove still playing well in CF. Then he slumped and later got busted with a 25 game suspension for using a drug of abuse.[2]

He also once got caught with his foot in his mouth when he tweeted about how Panda Express made him ill.

Never eat panda express shits had me feeling awful for 2 days back on my grind tomorrow, We got action…

At the time he must not have realized that Padres minority owner Tom Davin was also the CEO of Panda Express. Gaslamp Ball had been aware of this fact since June[1], but apparently no one had informed poor Cameron. Maybin attempted to make up for his transgression in a later tweet.

Man just got back on the wagon panda express was great today, now I’m ready for action…. Best oriental cuisine around… Let’s go…!
