Joe Wieland was acquired by the Padres in the trade that sent Mike Adams to the Texas Rangers. Notably, Wieland threw a no-hitter against the San Antonio Missions only 2 days before he was sent to the Padres on July 31st, 2011. Perhaps he should be known as "No-no Joe".

On April 14th, 2012, Wieland made his ML Debut against the Los Angeles Dodgers.[1] He finished the season winless at 0-4 in 5 starts. His season ended prematurely when he was sidelined due to a tender elbow. Later, that tender elbow was diagnosed to require Tommy John surgery.

Part of his rehab from Tommy John surgery was rooming with fellow TJ recoverer Cory Luebke at Luebke's La Jolla house.[2] jbox's demands that they turn this into a:
Fox Sports San Diego series chronicling their rehab, the remodeling of Luebke's house and their domestic partnership.
are still yet to be met.
