• In December 1989, the Padres helped the Indians acquire some key pieces to their great 1990s teams when the Padres traded C Sandy Alomar Jr., 2B Carlos Baerga and 3B/OF Chris James for Joe Carter.
• In November 2006, the Padres acquired 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff and P Andrew Brown for 2B Josh Barfield. Barfield floundered in Cleveland while Kouz had some mixed results in San Diego and Brown was used to acquire Milton Bradley for the heart-breaking 2007 playoff push.
